the Past, the Now, the Future

Great to have you here. Allow me to introduce myself:

I am Mark van Booren, based in Amsterdam. I am a painter, a cartoonist and a proud father of my son.

Past

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawing what I recall. I try to express my love for comics and science fiction films in my work through strange situations and subconscious themes. In my career as, I’ve had the pleasure of completing many wonderful painting and drawing commissions for many private and commercial clients. These assignments have ranged from large murals and set designs to smaller paintings, illustrations and design.

Present

Currently, I am focused on ink, oil paint, gouache, and pencil. Through journals and dream diaries, I keep engaging my subconscious to inspire new ideas.

Future

In my future work, I aim to continue exploring the connection between our analog and digital worlds. Without judgment, I strive to depict situations that may feel familiar, yet at the same time strangely unfamiliar. This exploration of alienation is an exciting process, and the viewer’s reaction to it is especially meaningful to me. I’m happy to showcase my work through art markets, social media, and exhibitions.
